PACKING TIPS

Mirrors up to about 16" (400mm) can be sent by post. Most carriers do not offer insurance for glass items so it is therefore vital that packing of optics is secure.

Optics sent via Next Day Insured Letter Post will be insured for loss, which is an efficient and economical service for items up to 2Kg (4.4lbs). This limits the service to sending nothing much larger than about a 6" (155mm) diameter mirror.

Once over 2Kg, even by one gramme, the cost jumps so pack with care! If sending by courier, shop around or ask our advice for the most economical routes.

Customers must be sure that they understand the terms of any insurance cover offered.

Step One First wrap your mirror tightly with tissue paper
Step Two Then wrap tightly with corrugated paper. By preventing the mirror moving within its' wrapping the surface cannot chafe in transit
Step Three Place in a tight fitting box and tape or tie into a solid package to become a strong shock-proof mass.
Step Four Now place in a much larger box making sure the mirror is surrounded by shock-absorbing packing (ie. foam chips) so any blows/crushing will be absorbed by the outer packing. Lastly, clearly mark with 'Fragile' and 'Glass' labels.
